Four Tips to Get the Best School Dance Photos

My younger sister Brittany is currently in high school, and I am her designated photographer when it comes to school dances.
There are a few things that I think about when we take these photos.

1. Pick a location that isn’t crowded.

This is a big one for me, because a crowded location doesn’t bid well for anyone. Overall it just adds a lot of time & hassle to the entire process. In a crowded location there are often-times by-standers that you will have to edit out of the photos. This is very time-consuming. Also, you usually have to wait to take photos because of the amount of other groups trying to take photos in the same spot.

I would suggest asking around or looking for a quiet location prior to the date of the occasion! This location had no other groups taking photos, which made my life so much easier!

2. Make sure to pay attention to the details.

Everyone spends a lot of time and money to make themselves feel special, so it’s important to take note of this! Make-up and dresses are a couple of those details that you will want to capture.

3. Include family into a photo or two!

This is a memorable event, and everyone will cherish these photos with their parents later in life.

4. Take MANY photos when photographing the group as a whole.

There are a lot of people, and you are bound to have someone blinking in every other photo. You may also catch a great candid moment while you’re snapping away!
