Lifestyle photography is one of my favorite things because I really get the chance to capture people in their element.
Children lifestyle photography is especially great because the photos I take really serve a purpose. They are moments that not only the parents will look back on, but the children too!
One of the reasons why I think lifestyle photography is so great when it comes to children is that everyday moments that normally aren’t captured are being captured! It’s also a lot easier to follow children around while they go about their activities than it is to make them sit still for “proper” portraits.
So when my friend Hannah said she wanted some photos of her daughter Amelia, I immediately told her that we should do a lifestyle session! She was extremely happy with the results, and was overjoyed to have photos of Amelia being herself 🙂
A few tips:
1. Follow the child around and observe, don’t force them to do anything. This could lead to a fit, and an early end to the session.
2. Ask questions! Most kids love to talk, and the facial expressions they give when telling their stories are always great.
3. Keep changing your perspective.
